With the focus on antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) at an all time high, this white paper, released 14th February 2022 provides a comprehensive review of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the history and extent of the issue, and the tools available to assist with rapid management of patients suspected of having an infection that may progress to septicaemia and potentially death.

On a global scale, a failure to address antimicrobial resistance could result in 10 million deaths by 2050 with a combined cost of £66 trillion ($89 trillion). This paper suggests a number of approaches to solving the problem so that the impact of AMR is reduced.
